I am hoping to build a ground floor extension, with a first floor terrace. Roof construction would be timber joists, ply and torch-on polyester roof felt. Is it possible to lay ceramic terrace tiles on the roof, considering physical damage, waterproofing, possibility of roof expansion etc. I was wondering if there is suitable flexible tile adhesive and grout availiable. Can anyone offer advice? Many thanks.

Why not just over lay it with hardwood decking tiles such as Ipe (pronounced Epay) or massaranduba? These can be loose laid on paving supports to allow drainage and protect roof covering, the high quality ones look just as good as tiles and don't need treating etc. They're even heavy enough to ballast loose laid roof coverings in some cases.

he,s probably done the job by now danny this is a 2006 posting.
