Hi,
Im just about to tile my kitchen and we have chosen to use mosaic tile sheets. Now my question is: I want to tile behind the socket so the socket sits on top of the tiles, however is this possible with small mosaic tile as I think there wont be enough tile behind the socket to support it when the socket is replaced and tightened?if you know what i mean??
I have also been told to tile using the worktop level as the level for the tile (not spirit level) otherwise it will accentuate any unlevellness of the worktop, but in doing this it may accentuate any unlevellness around the window???-----How would you start it??
And last but not least, we have got the steel edging strips...how do you fit these??.....do you complete a wall then slide it down behind the tiles or do you put the edging in the adhesive and then tile up to the edging.
Any advice/help would be most appricated!!!
(if i had my way I would get someone to do it for us but the boss(the wife) has a timescale and we cant get a tiler for weeks and weeks

Shame I'm not a bit closer. Anyway.... tile behind the sockets.
Use the worktop as a level.
If you're quick you can slide the trim behind the tiles.

Thanks for the reply :)
what about around the window..would it not look better all level to the window sill etc than to the worktop (if both differ that is)

Hi,

I think that we, or you, have to assume that the worktop is more or less level. If it isn't it should be rectified before you start tiling. If the sill isn't parallel with the worktop then if it's not much more than a few mil the sill tiling can be brought into line with a varying depth of tile adhesive. It it's too much to manage like this then level the sill (i.e. bring parallel to the worktop with a plaster/cement skim, then tile on top.

Rgds.

If the fixing bolts in your socket covers are too short I believe I'm right in saying that you can buy packs of longer bolts.
