Sometime after the heating has turned on and the radiators are hot the boiler started trying to reignite over and over again. Pilot light present through out. What is going on? Boiler is Potterton Nettaheat. Is there a quick fix or is it a major fault? I have turned the boiler off but it is very cold at the moment. Is it safe to run again?

This is an old and due to its design a potentially dangerous boiler.

My advice is that you should get a competent CORGI registered engineer to inspect it.

Do NOT attempt to open the combustion chamber yourself !

Its difficult to come to any conclusion about exactly whats wrong in your case because there are several causes of what you are describing. All are safety/combustion related and should be dealt with by a CORGI.

Your boiler will need an experienced CORGI who knows your boiler well. Anyone recently qualified with a CORGI number above 200000 is unlikely to have the necessary experience unless he has been lucky enough to gain specific experience with your model.
