I have been using a touch dimmer installed 20 years ago and still reliable. Just a light touch on the metal face plate switches it on and a finger held on the plate makes it run a cycle down and then up again, so that wherever contact is broken, the setting remains for future on/off switching. The cycle reverses with each new touch, making it easy to adjust lighting. A new dimmer recently fitted elsewhere, claimed to be a \\\'touch\\\' dimmer, requires pressing of a central button for on/off and continued pressing to complete the cycle started earlier, meaning you have to wait while it goes all the way down (or up) before getting to a chosen output. An ordinary rotating button is preferable to this type of dimmer.
Any idea where the true touch type may be available? Stano

varilight do them with optional remote controll. B+Q used to stock 'em. Around £20-£25 if i remember rightly.

yeah BnQ do them, bought a 1 and 2 gang there recently and you can program any existing remote to control the dimmer.
