I am writing the spec for rewiring of my new flat - to be done by a qualified electrician.
In my front room I plan to have 2 ceiling lights and 2 floor lamps for lighting.
I would however like to control the floor lamps with a normal wall dimmer switch.
Am curious as to how this might be done.
Would there be a separate floor run radial circuit with a channel running up to the light switch box to join cables running down from the ceiling lighting circuit?
Also, what sort of wall socket should be used to plug the lamps into?
In another flat I have seen round pin plugs used to designate that the socket is not part of the ring main but this can't be allowed in the new regulations?

5 amp round pin plugs are fine. Cabled up to the ceiling, and wired to the lighting circuit as normal. |

2A 3 round pin sockets are what I use. __________________ As George Michael once said, "..if you're gonna do it, do it right, right?" |
