I am installing a Miele KM548 Ceramic Hob.

The Hob is rated at 6800w. I am undecided if to use 4mm or 6mm cable.

Any advice on what is best would be appreciated. The cable will run from the RCD protected side of the MK Consumer Unit into the loft then clipped on the beams to the kitchen. The wiring will then go down a chased chanel to an MK 32a isolator with neon. The to a cooker outlet plate.

Total of run approximately 10 metres

Cheers

4mm² meets the CCC and VD limits so as long as it isn't subjected to any derating factors (will it be kept clear of loft insulation?) you are OK to use that. Personally though I would fit 6mm² just incase you wish to fit a larger appliance later on.

If the cooker switch doesn't have a socket outlet you are better off putting it on the non-RCD side.

This is notifiable so remember that you need to inform your BCO before you start the work.
