Sometimes they can overwinter so can get quite large

At the moment I'd say it's 20 + meters high. It I cut it down to say 3 meters and let to Bush out and control it. Would the routes still keep spreading

If too big, get rid of it.

Here's one that fell over

Tadpoles - strange time of year for tadpoles ... must be a mutant something ... apparently some tadpoles do survive all winter and become frogs when the weather starts warming up again.

How far is it from the house?

It prob needs to be 10 metres away to be totall outside the zone of influence of the house foundation - although diff trees have differing levels of root spread and water take up.

Reducing canopy does reduce root spread -but Im not sure if it will shoot from old wood

I was taught that a good rule of thumb is that the roots spread as wide as the tree is tall. Dunno if true for all, or at all.

No - trees will grow again, moving a house will mean a lot more wood is needed, and you'll probably need to burn some of it.

Chop it down, use it as firewood in a wood burner, and plant something more manageable, ideally a native species, in its place.
