Thanks for your answers and they are the ones that would fit in with a lasting settlement...
Unfortunately the state of israel appears to have the opposite view...
I fear that you place too much optimism on an agreement as regards the two state solution...
israel has only been paying lip service to that outcome!
Because israeli governments are kept in power by the fanatics who want a 'greater israel', and they will never yield...
Thus you should give a 'jot' about 1948, because that is the root of the problem.
A state brought about by fanatic terrorists being opposed for decades by fanatic terrorists.
Both sides have had a succession of 'leaders' who will stop at nothing to get what they want, and frustration on both sides leads to countless pointless deaths...
Which entrenches the respective positions and works to recruit the next generation of cannon fodder!
And sadly given the ever increasing lethality and availability of today's weapons it will only get worse.
There needs to be a major player who comes out with a no holds barred plan for peace.
Otherwise I fear that at some point a WMD will be used (by either side), and where that leads will only be madness!

Israeli authorities have deliberately deprived Palestinian civilians in Gaza of water, causing thousands of deaths and committing the crime of extermination as well as “acts of genocide”, a Human Rights Watch report says.
The publication comes amid international alarm over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, where Israel has been waging a devastating offensive since Hamas’s shock attack on October 7 last year.
In its report, HRW listed what it said were Israel’s intentional actions — ranging from destroying infrastructure to blocking water-related aid — that had deprived most of Gaza’s 2.3mn citizens of access to the water needed to meet their most basic needs.
“For more than a year the Israeli government has deliberately denied Palestinians in Gaza the bare minimum [of water] they need to survive,” said Tirana Hassan, executive director at HRW.
“This isn’t just negligence; it is a calculated policy of deprivation that has led to the deaths of thousands from dehydration.”

I think they have decided to hate Arabs, and especially Palestinians, because they makes them feel better about slaughtering them and stealing their land.
Such an emotive subject, getting an objective appraisal involves a lot of sifting.
