The “statute authorises specific emergency actions like imposing sanctions or freezing assets to protect the United States from foreign threats. It does not authorise the president to impose tariffs”, the group said in a statement.
The 'Executive Order" has been abused long enough, as Trump uses it to extend his presidential powers beyond their limit into autocracy at best; dictatorship at worst. This legal case echoes anti-tariff arguments made by several other prominent Republicans, including Senators Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul. When arch-conservatives like McConnell and Rand argue against this policy it's time for the GoP to sit up and pay attention. If this trade-war has a similar affect to the Volker Shock of the early 80s then the MAGA mob will have their devotion tested to the limit by the Orange Oaf they elected into office.

Trump is boasting that tarrifs are already bringing in 2 billion dollars a day.
So his idea to get the American consumer to pay a tax in order to pay for tax cuts seems to be going well, even if it doesn't make any sense.
Trump either has an idea that is so ingenious that it is beyond the comprehension of ordinary mortals or else he is just a flecking ejit.

Trumps tarrifs have depreciated the Chinese Yuan, which makes their exports even more competitive.
