Why not do this at the beginning? Have safe and secure areas for security screened Palestinians. that would allow Israel to go after the real criminals.
I agree, but lets not dwell on the past and concentrate on the present. Maybe Israel wasn't expecting public opinion to lean towards the terrorists or maybe didn't think it was going to be so hard to weed out those from the innocent. Regardless of the reasoning this should shift public opinion back in their favour.
Yes, it's the government under Netanyahu that are the real war mongers as a way of clinging to power. Bibi doesn't want or need peace. IMO his whole outlook was changed by the death of his brother Yonaton who led the Entebbe Raid; he was never the same after that.
