    1810 company kitchen tap spanner

I can't fully get at it but it looks like it has a metal nut inside the plastic but I may be mistaken

    1810 company kitchen tap spanner

I have attached a picture from underneath our kitchen sink. We have an 1810 company mixer tap that occasionally works loose and I've only been able to hand tighten the plastic nut on the back. Is there a special kind of tool for this type of fixing or has anyone a solution that works better than...

    New doors, crap fitting

He just quoted £600 to fit all doors. No mention of vat. Anyway he's really wound me up so he should be thankful I gave him what I did

Tbf he has a vat registration number on his invoice. There was no way he was getting it though

    New doors, crap fitting

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated. I slept on it and have decided to pay him half his original quote, mainly because the doors open and close and the handles work! I emailed him this morning stating my dissatisfaction and how I feel about his workmanship Told him I would pay half his...

He also quoted 2 men for one day and he's spent approx 8 hours here on his own which is half the labour he quoted

    New doors, crap fitting

This is how the latches are now. I can't say I'm happy with then still tbh or am I being over fussy? I'm tempted to offer him half his money and walk away from it. There's no way I'm paying him full price for that finish

    New doors, crap fitting

I'll see what it looks like when I get home. He was there for around 2 hours. Missus seems happy with the end result but I'm not sure filling new doors one week after fitting is acceptable tbh.

    New doors, crap fitting

Quick update, he's turned up! Unfortunately my missus home on her own, although she's feisty, he's claiming nobody's ever gone round inspecting his work in that detail and he's never had a complaint so not sure really what our problem is . He's said he's going to fill where he can which we're...

Out of interest, what would be a reasonable price to pay? We're in Peterborough if it makes any difference. The other 2 quotes we got were both £560 so maybe thsts the rate here

    New doors, crap fitting

Thanks for the detailed reply. My question to him also would be the same, would you accept this in your house? As a sole trader I can't believe he's happy to walk away from it feeling like he's done a good job. If he's ****ed the first one up you wouldn't carry on and do the same with the rest...

    New doors, crap fitting

Spoke to citizens advice today. We are within our rights to withhold 100% of the payment if we feel the job hasn't been done to a standard that is satisfactory and we are also entitled to claim for damages, ie new doors, if they are beyond repair. If he refuses we could go thru small claims but...

    New doors, crap fitting

If he comes back Tuesday and we're still not happy with it obv we're going to withhold payment but if he refuses to supply new doors cos they're irreparable I guess we're at deadlock unless we decide to go small claims court, is that pretty much the situation. In all honesty I am anticipating...
