    The type I have fitted similar to that did unscrew. They may have a decorative cap on them similar to a mirror screw.

    No easy way for that one, especially if it comes out half way up the stairs on a small corner landing. Your electrician will be familiar with the type of properties in his area and will have experience in this type installation.

    Also , have you rated the transformers to the load; you do not make it clear if you are using individual ones. You may also have heat build up tripping the thermal cut out in the transformer, or a bad connection somewhere . You really need to get this assessed professionally to avoid danger of fire.

    Powering a bilge pump from mains

    I also think it will work out cheaper in the long term to fit a 240v submersible pump. Could you dig around the drain and build a small manhole or just sleeve it with an oversize pipe mounted vertically to house the pump. 240 pumps give years of trouble free service.

    Yes, it may take your circuit over the permitted values for that circuit. you need to ask your electrician what you are permitted to do within the parameters of part p and the results he has assessed.

    With all due respect there is no way you can look at an electrical installation and assume that it is ok. You need to extend your budget and employ an experienced tester to check your installation to give you an assessment of the condition. If you then wish to try and circumvent the requirements...

    Lurking under the floor....

    I'ts a good reason not to go sticking your hands under the floorboards fishing for cables etc. Sadly this type of thing is not uncommon.

    And you need to ensure that the sum of the two lamps do not exceed the rating of either unit .IE do'nt sum 1000w on a 500w pir.
