    Halogen light

Gentlemen, if it helps, I have found a label on the mains lead giving information. It has a number HO5RN.F written on it...which I have checked on the internet. It would appear that this cable is suitable for 300/500 volts, therefore should be quite safe at 230v There are no switches on...

    Halogen light

It might be...it was given to me and I want to use it to illuminate the garden at night so i can film hedgehogs etc. My old one packed up. Its a tripod mounted, double-headed extendable unit...perfect for my needs...just that it's 110v rating.

Yes, I take your point but this is a brand-new, quite expensive lamp set...and I have several 500w halogen bulbs already so, at the risk of sounding mean, it just seemed sensible to use them in this lamp...if I could do so without any silly risks. Thanks all.

    Halogen light

Hello all, I have a twin 500w halogen worklight which is rated 110v. Can I use it safely on a 230/240v supply. Would I need to change the lamps or will it need rewiring as well. Thank you. Forester
