Thanks, I wasn't sure of the correct terminology, but it appears that the syphon washer was what I was looking for. The cistern is made of cheap, fairly-thin plastic.

Thanks, I've taken out the grub screw and a secondary smaller grub pointy bit that was behind the grub screw, but the handle still seems not to want to come off. I can't see anything else holding it in place, so is it worth giving it some elbow grease, or is there something else I'm possibly...

I took the operating lever off, and it looks like there is a grub screw, as you suggested. I've attached a photo. If I loosen this, in theory, should the handle come off?

Hello, My shower mixing bar's flow control handle (left) has broken today. Instead of being able to control the flow of water, the handle 'slips' and does not quite grip what it needs to internally to open/close the valve. The value is stuck slightly open, so the shower is running. However...

I tried loosening the top nut highlighted in the picture, and water started dripping immediately. Would this suggest that there isn't a lock?

Right after the port valve seems to be warm, but as you get to the bend where the nut starts is basically cold.

Hi @Madrab, I hope you don't mind me piggybacking off this thread, as I think I'm experiencing the same issue. I made a post a while ago about not having any hot water after changing a radiator. I followed the advice there, and before the plumber could come back to take a look at fixing it...
