    Leaking Telescopic Radiator Valve

Thank you both. Swapped for a cut-down rigid one this afternoon, and now leak-free. :giggle: I'm not sure why the professional plumber we used a few years ago, when initially fitting the new radiators, opted for a telescopic valve, but hey, ho. Thanks again

    Leaking Telescopic Radiator Valve

Good morning, all, I recently removed and reattached a radiator when decorating our bedroom. I subsequently noticed that the telescopic valve was slightly leaking when this radiator, or any radiator in the house, was on. We have a combi system, so I presume that some part of the telescopic...

    Toilet Leak from Cistern

Thank you kindly for all your help. Going to take off the existing washer now to measure, will collect first thing and update tomorrow with some (hopefully good) news. Thanks again. :giggle:

    Toilet Leak from Cistern

I appreciate that, thank you. Would something like this be the same: https://www.toolstation.com/syphon-tail-washer/p66356 I want to collect it tomorrow, if possible. Failing that, I'll perhaps try your dye test to see whether that shows any cracks.

    Toilet Leak from Cistern

Thanks, I wasn't sure of the correct terminology, but it appears that the syphon washer was what I was looking for. The cistern is made of cheap, fairly-thin plastic.

    Toilet Leak from Cistern

Good evening, We noticed a small pool of water around the base of our hidden cistern toilet. After some investigation, we found the leak to be coming from a seal around a connection between the toilet's back and the cistern. I've tried unscrewing the part that connects the pipe to the cistern...

    Repairing Mixer Shower Tap Handle

Thanks, Conny, I got it off in the end and spent 3 hours looking to see the issue, but I couldn't figure it out. The 2-way diverter & handle seemed to work okay when not fully screwed into the bar, but this would leave a small leak. I tried cleaning all the parts, dismantling them as much as...

    Repairing Mixer Shower Tap Handle

Thanks, I've taken out the grub screw and a secondary smaller grub pointy bit that was behind the grub screw, but the handle still seems not to want to come off. I can't see anything else holding it in place, so is it worth giving it some elbow grease, or is there something else I'm possibly...

    Repairing Mixer Shower Tap Handle

I took the operating lever off, and it looks like there is a grub screw, as you suggested. I've attached a photo. If I loosen this, in theory, should the handle come off?

    Repairing Mixer Shower Tap Handle

Hello, My shower mixing bar's flow control handle (left) has broken today. Instead of being able to control the flow of water, the handle 'slips' and does not quite grip what it needs to internally to open/close the valve. The value is stuck slightly open, so the shower is running. However...

No hot water after radiator change

Thanks Rob, I'll give that a try this evening. Re-checking after boosting the hot water for 30 minutes, I noticed that the part of the pipe that was previously cold is now getting warm, but the tank itself is stone cold. As you suggest, it could also be an airlock further down. I will try...

No hot water after radiator change

I tried loosening the top nut highlighted in the picture, and water started dripping immediately. Would this suggest that there isn't a lock?

No hot water after radiator change

Right after the port valve seems to be warm, but as you get to the bend where the nut starts is basically cold.

No hot water after radiator change

Hi @Madrab, I hope you don't mind me piggybacking off this thread, as I think I'm experiencing the same issue. I made a post a while ago about not having any hot water after changing a radiator. I followed the advice there, and before the plumber could come back to take a look at fixing it...

How can I calculate the cornice mitre and bevel angle?

Haha, that's so simple... There's me trying to overcomplicate things! Thank you for your suggestion - I will give that a go in the morning. :giggle:
