Slat wall, wall out of plumb

I’d just cut the piece and see how it looks. Personally I wouldn’t do anything involving filler.

    Confused regarding foundations for garage

If there’s already a foundation, and it gets exposed to show its thickness and width, which is a bit of digging for say an hour or so, and they OK it, then you can build off it.

Slat wall, wall out of plumb

Just rip a batten the right shape for the last one, bit of a faff to cut but it’s done then. I’d just measure width top and bottom and do a straight cut, unless the wall is really all over the place. Leave at least a 10mm gap to the wall, to give you a bit of tolerance. Dead easy and quick if...

    Extension drainage and patio

With a small gap between that and the fence. Done that on mine, works fine. Occasionally pull the odd weed out that grows in the gap.

Lateral restraint straps across diagonal bracing?

As long as you’ve got decent length screws/nails into several trusses you should be ok just packing it out as needed At the house end no straps, but can pop some screws through the first truss into the wall with some dpc in between

    Screed is this right

The screed will take about a month to set based on the 1mm per day rule so won’t be that hard yet. 30mm sounds pretty thin for S&C, was it bonded to the slab?

    Waterproofer vs plasticiser

Any reason to use standard admix plasticiser over “integral waterproofer which is also a plasticiser” for face brickwork (blue engineers)? Both are the everbuild yellow bottles. I’ve run out of normal admix but got a full bottle of the waterproofer+plasticiser stuff. Will deffo buy a new bottle...

    Soakaway tips

Need to dig a soakaway, to drain about 20m2 of block paving. I’ll fill it with rubble rather than buy the plastic crates, as I’ve got a big pile of it already. Reckon a cubic meter is good for this? Or can get away with less or need more? It’s not clay, more sandy clean soil. How small would you...

    Blue brick curved wall

Yeah, I’ve laid much bigger quantities of decent machine mixed muck gauged properly. This was mixed in a barrow on a winter day and struck too early for my liking so wasn’t the best plan. You’re right, the whiteness on the dye does look a bit like an ironed joint done way too early, maybe that...

    Blue brick curved wall

Yep, weather so bad/cold/damp that they got pointed up the next morning. Wasn’t a frost though.

    Blue brick curved wall

Reckon brick acid will remove the white? I’ve no idea what it is, whether efflorescence or something else. Bricks the wrong way round, despite proving to be a popular talking point, are the least of my worries and a mistake I’ll never make again…

    Project before and after

What did you joint it with in the end? Doesn’t look like S&C

    Blue brick curved wall

Yep well spotted, I got some wrong. Does get a mention further up the thread (y)

    Blue brick curved wall

I haven’t touched this since Christmas as I’ve been doing other work but I’m not happy about how it looks. In the weeks after laying it, it looked good, uniform black mortar. I’m not sure if this discolouration is efflorescence, or due to all the recent wet weather. I know I’m not the best...
