Weep vents positioning above a steel lintel

Did the opening get widened? Looks like the blocks have been cut (although may just be the photo) and guess they just left the old lintel in situ and cracked on fitting a new window? Can’t see an easy fix other than propping, removal of some of the blocks, fitting new cavity lintel with tray etc…

Weep vents positioning above a steel lintel

The weep vent height may be ok if there’s a cavity tray at that height, but wrong if they’re relying on the (cavity) lintel as a tray. Exploratory hole might be a good bet, might be able to get a camera in etc.

    Rafters and external Leaf

I mendip’d mine, mine was also fairly shallow but was at least 17 for the velux’s. dead easy tiles to lay unlike the Anglias on the upper roof which were horrible.

    What foam gun?

I’d say any gun has the ability to either self destruct or get clogged, so I’d just buy the usual basic screwfix ones. Think my current screwfix/toolstation one’s been going a couple of years and the one from eurocell (I think) before that at the same price was similar. I also never bother...

    Rafters and external Leaf

Surely your top roof has a gutter overhang so this one can have a couple of inch verge overhang? Pitch looks shallow but may just be camera angle You don’t want a ladder, last rafter stays on inside against inner skin, the battens over sail both skins and trap some undercloak or have dry verge …

    Joists for extension

This kinda thing where it’s built in/cut into the brickwork. I guess for yours, if you’re matching an existing first floor level for knock through, it may well not land on a bed course so you’d have to cut it into the brick… I’ve never used them though so not sure what the options are.

    Joists for extension

I did the bearer plate on mine, as didn’t fancy chopping each joist out. No issues. But suspect it’s seen as the less robust method out of the two. If the existing wall’s got a cavity, the noise transfer issue isn’t really a concern either way.

    Weighing in copper

I’ve got a good amount of the stuff, and shedloads of lead, so deffo worth the trip I reckon. Weighed a far smaller amount in years ago and got maybe £70 ish.

    Weighing in copper

I’ve got a few years worth of old copper pipe and fittings to go and weigh in. So far I’ve cut off all the brass/compression fittings and got them in a separate pile, leaving a load of copper pipe which only has end feed/solder joints. Any idea if that constitutes “clean copper” and is worth...

Converting garage to make space for pool table

It ain’t going to be 20k unless you’re building a new garage. Can’t see it being north of 10k either from what’s been discussed so far.

Converting garage to make space for pool table

I reckon clearance at the top for a lintel that can span that far might be tight, or a faff with the fascia in place etc. from a quick count of brick courses above dpc is it single skin? Would need to think how you’d finish the inside around where the inside of the frame lands…
