Insulation prep for under floor heating and screed (Ed.)

Hi All, I am preparing my concrete base for liquid screed over 100mm PIR insulation. 2 questions... 1) The boards will be taped however they move up and down when walking across them. Whats the best way to secure them down? 2) The perimeter of the room is lined with 25mm insulation to protect...

    Securing Bifolds to H+H 3.6n blockwork...which fixings?

Hi all What fixings would you recommend for securing aluminium bifold doors to H&H 3.6n blocks? Are they too soft for regular concrete screws or would you suggest using Fischer frame fixings instead? Cheers

Fribreglass top coat 1 week later ?

Hi All Is it a problem to apply the top coat to a fibreglass flat roof 8-10 days after application of the resin/matt layer? What do you think? Thanks

Fibreglass roof, trims or no trims?

Hi all. My extension parapet flat roof with roof lantern is almost ready to be fibreglassed (over 18mm osb). Thanks for the replies. I must say it does make me a little nervous! What would you say a reasonable price should be for this amount of screed supplied and pumped by a company?

    DIY liquid floor screed.....bad idea?

Hi All After getting a £1250 quote for 18m2 of floor screed at 50mm, I thought I would investigate other options. I will require liquid screed for my extension with underfloor heating. I cannot go for a dry screed as I only have 50mm to work with. Has anyone ever DIY'ed liquid floor screed? I...

    Adding wall ties afterwards

Thanks Stuart. Good to know. For peace of mind and to keep BC happy, I will bite the bullet and will use Helical ties. Is a pilot hole still needed in the timber?

    Adding wall ties afterwards

About 7. :) I can only see them sold in packs of 100 and then a 50 quid tool is required for the drill. Also, can helical ties go Into timber? I figured 150mm screws and a squirt of resin would be just as good...

    Adding wall ties afterwards

Thanks noseall. BC approved my plans inadvance. 130mm insulation within the timber leaf and 25mm outside it. Then 50mm empty ventilated cavity. What if Installed the screws at an angle so con densation can run off? This should act the same as a wall tie...no? Cheers

    Adding wall ties afterwards

Hi all I did not realise wall ties need to be in place on every course around doors. My extension consists of timber inner leaf, 50mm cavity and blockwork external. As a cheaper alternative to helical wall ties, I was considering drilling a hole in the masonry, squirting some kemfix in and...
