Hi there, This is very interesting, sounds simple to setup and to be honest sounds as good as any CCTV kit. The external light problem would be my concern, also how secure is the room where the server is based. this would be the first thing anyone would steal.

The key to looking for a laptop when required for the above tasks is where will it be used. If its home use then get a 15" IMO, 12" for travel. 10" is just too small for me. £300 will be fine, most spec'd units these days are up to these tasks no problem.

Thanks Deluks,, Here are some new pics. I will use Knauf FrameTherm Slab 38 against wall to stud then Celotex GA4000 Insulation Board up to the plaster board. I will tape the celotex to the timber with foil and use foil backed PB. With the celing does this sound ok 'Rockwool Roll Loft...
