Update : All doors have now been replaced and we are happy with them.
£100 deducted from final invoice as a good will gesture for inconvenience.
Thanks for all your help
Just a quick update…. Least I can do with all the help I received.
Spoke to the Director of the company on Friday. He was supposed to visit us but was too busy (again).
I said we can deal with it over the phone. I told him I would like a refund and after I’d received that he could send someone...
I’ve not bought a new house. I’m simply (ha,ha) having or trying to have new doors.
Oh and for what it’s worth I drive a jaguar…..a very old and high mileage one
No, they didn’t suggest any changes to the linings.
When they came to measure thay did tell me that the hinges would be altered slightly as they didn’t want to use the original screw fixings in the lining.
I could understand that. But…the new hinges were place 1/2” ABOVE the original rebate…...
Well, we’ll wait and see on that one ! I’m recently retired so have all the time in the world and my daughter works in a local solicitor’s ( licensed conveyancer) but has a solicitor friend who can tramp all over this.
Well, all I can say at this point is that I really appreciate all of your opinions and the comments.
If nothing else it’s given me the confidence to stand my ground.
No matter how this sorry mess gets resolved the doors will be going to the tip and at worst I’ve learnt a £750 lesson !
Thank you
The agreed price for 7 doors with furniture supplied and fitted was £1540
The price is certainly a rip-off looking at what I’ve got ! Like I said I’ve only paid 50%
I’ve kept hold of the old doors so they’ll go back on once the new door issue ( hopefully)gets resolved.
Well this is the thing. We’re not interested in a 50% discount. The doors are plainly unacceptable.
Not all the hinges are rebated into the casing and the ones that are, are fixed within but above the original hinge rebate.
The veneer on most of the doors has been plained to an extent at both...
Actually it was 50% down and 50% when completed. Needless to say I haven’t paid the latter.
But you’re right…. I’m stuck with them until they are taken away.
I wouldn’t have these doors in my house if they were free. Our standards clearly differ.
We read the reviews on FB and Trustpilot and it would appear now that the trader and his mum wrote them all !!
Hi, I’m here looking for advice if anyone would be good enough to give me any !
Last week we had 7 new interior doors installed by a company that regularly advertise on FB.
We read their reviews which were all positive so thought we’d go ahead and have them done.
One of the selling points is...
