    Mixing Osmo UV oil

Looking to get some tinted UV protection oil for outdoor cedar cladding. I like the UV clear but I would like a slightly darker red tint to blend in with other timber on my house. I looked at the light red tint from Osmo posted in another thread and it seems quite dark. Just wondering if it...

    Masonry Paint: What to use?

Thanks but what about the water repellent properties of silicone paint - are they not worth something on render ?

    Masonry Paint: What to use?

Can you explain why it's frowned upon? And why no point in using over render?

Lighting circuit with downlights and sconce

Hi, I have a circuit in my kitchen with 2 spots and a wall sconce. On the other side of the room I have another circuit with two more spots and I want to add these to the first circuit. The second circuit just had a twin and earth from the light switch to the spots, in and out of 1st JB, in...

Replace flash timer with Drayton wiser 1

BTW I am happy to get the two channel and any trvs if I can get the system to work. My only restriction is the wiring, the boiler and current switch are in a separate room from the hw cylinder and MV so I cant easily rewire from on to the other. If there is a solution via wireless I can do that.

Replace flash timer with Drayton wiser 1

Thanks for all the answers. Apologies if this is tedious. Remember that all I want is a way to remotely program my heating - I am there at sporadic times so a fixed 24h or weekly timer doesn't work for me. I want to be able to turn it on before I get home, which is random. Would the following...

Replace flash timer with Drayton wiser 1

Thanks for your patience but you haven't explained why. Sure you are telling me the different scenarios now and with wiser but I was looking for the why so I can understand. Why are you saying with wiser only one device? Why can't I keep my existing thermostat with the wiser - If the thermostat...

Replace flash timer with Drayton wiser 1

Thanks but just to tease this out. The room thermostat doesn't do anything except open and close the motorised valve which serves the rads. The boiler only fires up when the time switch is active and is off when the time switch is off. If that's the case I don't see why the Drayton is any...

Replace flash timer with Drayton wiser 1

I finally got around to taking some photos Hopefully they help. There seems to be only one supply and return water to the boiler but let me know what you see

Replace flash timer with Drayton wiser 1

I will check and confirm. But one thing confuses me. If my current flash switch goes on and off at set times why wouldn't the Drayton perform the same task ? All i need is a switch that turns on and off when I want it to, nothing more than that. The only difference is I want to control it...

Running cable on Fascia or soffit

Hi, Just wondering what is considered best practise especially from a visual point of view. I have some existing wiring and lights exiting in my soffit. I want to install some PIRs and move the existing lights. Should I run cable clipped to soffit or clipped to fascia under gutter or should...

Replace flash timer with Drayton wiser 1

Thanks for your detailed reply. I am not sure exactly if you are right or not, but that is because I am not 100% sure myself how it works. This bit I am not sure about, what would drive the heating loop through the hot water tank if the pump switches off ? My thinking was that the thermostat...

Parapet Wall - Coping / Repointing

The tray is embedded in the mortar. The flashing under the tray is sealed with silicone. The weep holds are flush with bottom of tray so there is no blockage.

Parapet Wall - Coping / Repointing

There's nothing I can do with the tray now. And not sure how a tray seals against the insulation and block work on the inner wall. The joists protrude the inner block leaf, water can get into the joists and drip off anywhere. Tray does nothing for that.
