No heating from an ecotech Plus 418 boiler

turned the cylinder stat up to 80 and the boiler has immediately come back on. Will the check the rads in a minute ... All 3 upstairs rads (and towel rail) are on, only 2 (of the 6) downstairs one appear to be on - with 2 of the other 4 being stone cold.

Ok, the stat on the cylinder seems to be set to 60. And without changing anything all 3 pipes into the the 3 port valve are very hot to the touch.

Sorry picasso - most of that went over my head ... "3 port valve" ? and if the cylinder has a thermostat I've never seen it ??

No heating from an ecotech Plus 418 boiler

interestingly, without me doing anything, the boiler has just started up and the heating is coming on I have literally touched/changed nothing - though the OH has pointed out that IF the timer had been on "timed settings" (it isn't - it is on constantly) then the timed settings are for...

No heating from an ecotech Plus 418 boiler

thanks for the relpy nickg, I thought it was unlikely to be a problem with the boiler itself. IIRC we did have a problem with either the valve/diverter (in terms of diverter getting stuck in a certain position) before but I can't remember if we got it fixed. Could it be that ?

Hi all, As above really. Even when the timer is set to "ON" so we know it's not a problem with the timer. The boiler has two thermostats on it (one for water currently 55c and one for heating - 70c ) which presumably lets us set the temp for both to get to - and not when they come on...

Radiators: SORTED but now needs a 'power flush' ??

Well - turns out it was the pump. British Gas bloke came round today (turned up at 15:00 for an 8-12 slot !!!) to do what was meant to be a regular service (under the Home Care plan) and an "emergency breakdown" (after the other half had pleaded with BG last week for mercy having no heat and...

Radiators: SORTED but now needs a 'power flush' ??

Sort of in the process now of turning the downstairs rads on one at a time and the all seem to work .... just not when all on together.

Radiators: SORTED but now needs a 'power flush' ??

Right .... all the upstairs rad thermos are now off and one of the downstairs rads is now working (but none of the others). the pump is very hot to the touch (but that could be me being just a wuss !!!). Does that sound like a pump problem or just an airlock which is slowly moving round...

Radiators: SORTED but now needs a 'power flush' ??

Right, you're talking to a plumbing newbie so could you explain that in more layman's terms (if that was possible) ?? Is that at the thermos or elsewhere. Whilst some of the downstairs radiators have "valves" in the pipe underneath the radiator none of the upstairs ones do (they're all just...

Radiators: SORTED but now needs a 'power flush' ??

How ? By turning the heating off ? There are 5 radiators downstairs all with thermos. All 5 radiators are stone cold. The pipe going into the thermo on 2 of the rads is warm to to the touch at the thermo. On the one of these pipes, the pipe is boiling hot at ceiling level - can't...

Radiators: SORTED but now needs a 'power flush' ??

Just tried to check the pump. I am guessing it shouldn't be boiling hot to touch ? Cos it is.

Radiators: SORTED but now needs a 'power flush' ??

conventional system. have now found another radiator downstairs with warm "in" pip but cold everywhere else. bled this "new" radiator and, unlike the first one where it was just a trickle, the water spirted out all over the place. A pressure problem perhaps ?? Problem is - haven't had any...

Radiators: SORTED but now needs a 'power flush' ??

Ok - call me Mr Thickie but how do I do that ? Also, wouldn't a pump problem mean the in pipe, which is currently warm, should be stone cold as well ?
