    Bumped a tail light

If his part was original manufacturer then he can and should demand the same part. I see nothing wrong with that.

Brickies! Am I being ripped off?

What makes you say this. It's a victorian property. Cement wasn't used widely in building until 1930. I'm 99% sure it should be lime pointing.

    Wall prep before skimming

23vc is totally right. When the paper gets we it will pull away. Taking the plaster with it. Yeah it is. Might need a coat of pva as it's painted the skimming when tacky not dry. Assuming the paint is sound. If it's flaking then you need to a few more steps

Rising damp coming through chipboard on concrete floor

Concrete is technically not waterproof. And what concrete isn't cracked

Rising damp coming through chipboard on concrete floor

Yeah... And that seam between the wall and the dpc water can easyly get down as you have no drainage up there. .. Also you have water that can come thru the patio and under the dpc

Rising damp coming through chipboard on concrete floor

That dpc is below the outside ground level tho isn't it? So you have ground outside above the dpc... So repairing the dpc is a waste of time. Dpc stops vertical movement to water. .. Not horizontal.

Is this allowed.. Surface mounted box.

I don't know why it wouldn't be allowed. It just feels wrong. Like a child could come rip the trunking off the wall or something

Is this allowed.. Surface mounted box.

I have a spur in my house where the cable runs from a socket... Inside some plastic trunking... Then enters a surface mounted box. 1. Is this allowed. 2. If it is allowed should there be some protection to prevent cables being pulled out..... And what kind of protection Thanks

Rising damp coming through chipboard on concrete floor

Just popping out so will look better later.. But that dpc is useless when you have soil that high against the wall. Which is why you need to decrease ground level which isn't exactly easy for you... Or improve. Drainage to stop the water even getting there in the first place. If this was an old...

Rising damp coming through chipboard on concrete floor

You need some kind of French drain to stop water entering thru the wall. But the more I think about it I think your guttering is leaking...

Rising damp coming through chipboard on concrete floor

Yup. Looking at all of that.... You need some kind of slot drainage around the edge. Water is entering down the edge of the building and thru the render. It can't escape anywhere because the render is trapping it. And it's causing your damage. Could be broken drains but I'd say it'd unlikely...
