    CH Pump running constantly

***update: Just found up the shower has been sounding funny too. Just a guess but I think maybe the valve is stuck preventing the shower (electric mixer) from getting enough water

    CH Pump running constantly

Not that I know of I have just been told his plumber neighbor has said the pipes need doing and arranged a quote for power flushing, I feel that is a bit suspicious fix.

    CH Pump running constantly

Hi guys, hope you can help me out. My dad has just rang me as he has been having issues the central heating in his house. What I've managed to get out of him is that the boiler has been tripping to overheat every evening and the pump keeps running even when the system is off (thermostat). I told...

    Lighting issues.

By Light do you mean the fitting? What kind of light is it? Depends on how it has been wired. If you removed the entire fitting have you disconnected any wires which are now not connected? What kind of switch was it single/dual gang? If rodents have been involved it may be time to get a...

    Changed bulb still not working?

Chances are it could be a bad bulb, is it a 2 pin or a 4 pin (or a 2pin bulb in a 4pin fitting)? As the 2 pins have the starter built in, but the 4 pins have a starter in the fitting which could have blown. Ruling out any wiring faults etc. I will disclaim that I have only handled 2D fittings a...

    Changed bulb still not working?

Have you checked on your consumer unit / fusebox to see if anything tripped when the bulb blew? Is the fitting in good condition, no residue or corrosion?

    Wall Plug to ceiling light

You could run it to a plug with a 3A fuse fitted, but do you really want a wire running down the wall? Is the fitting metal? If so it will need to be grounded properly. Does it have any kind of strain relief for a cable? If not it could be easily pulled out and cause a fire or worse...

    High Electricity Bill

thanks for the reply, my line of thinking exactly. The wiring is somewhat new, my guess '09/10 and I've not noticed any smells or buildups. However there does exist a lot of redundant ancient cabling which is dead that I am going to need to chase up on to be sure. I have not seen the CU or meter...

    High Electricity Bill

A friend of mine has just taken on an industrial unit (old barn conversion) and has been hit with high electricity bills, about £600 a month! He is only in the unit about 6 hours a day and only runs the lighting. The lighting is 3x Sodium-Vapor lamps which came with the unit and 6x 58W...

    Wifi Boost

The standard is RJ45, your hub will have 4 of them on the bottom (coloured yellow I believe) any one will do. Yes and No, it is instead of wireless as it is wired but you could connect a network switch to run multiple devices or better a wireless access point. This would give you a second...
