    Air getting into heating system

Water will come out of the vent once the air is bleed out. The system is still under pressure at c. 1.5 bar.

    Air getting into heating system

All pipework connects at the bottom and the heat exchanger is at the top. Its probably 20+ years old so I doubt they will offer too much support!

    Air getting into heating system

Yep. The air vent is good. It has recently been replaced as well but it has made no difference.

    Air getting into heating system

Thanks. I did try lighting but it was not combustible. I did put 5L of inhibitor in the system after the last flush to be sure! I forgot to mention this on my post.

    Air getting into heating system

Hi All I've been struggling with a problem with my heating system ever since moving into my house over four years ago. It is a townhouse with four floors and has a Baxi system 60/100 boiler that is getting on a bit but seems to be functioning fine on the second floor. Air is getting into the...

    Replace Baxi System Boiler

Hi All I keep on having minor trouble with my Baxi system boiler which feels like it is due a replacement. I’ve changed the gas value but it struggles with modulation, particularly when heating the hot water tank and running a reduced number of rads through the hive trv system which results in...

Thermostatic Shower Issue with Cold Water Overpowering the Hot?

Hi All So I had a bit of a play around yesterday and fitted the non-return valve on the hot side immediately after the pump. Unfortunately, that made no difference to the shower performance. I then thought I'd try and partially close the isolating valve on the cold side to see if this would...

Thermostatic Shower Issue with Cold Water Overpowering the Hot?

Thank you @Madrab. I see what you mean about not having a dedicated feed for the pump, although all upstairs hot water taps, showers etc are fed by the pump and only two downstairs taps are fed outside of that loop and are never on at the same time as the shower so I'm not sure why that could...

Thermostatic Shower Issue with Cold Water Overpowering the Hot?

You might be on to something here. You are correct the pump is in the attic, above the HW cylinder which is on the floor below and about the same height as the bottom of the cold water tank. All the pipework looks to be 22mm to me. I moved into the house a year ago and it has never worked...

Thermostatic Shower Issue with Cold Water Overpowering the Hot?

So something like this running out of the pump? https://www.industrialwaterequipment.co.uk/shop/brass-check-valve-mini-check-valve-female-x-male/mini-check-valve-female-x-male-34/ From the pump manual I note it states: " NON-RETURN VALVES MUST NOT be fitted in the discharge pipework between...

Thermostatic Shower Issue with Cold Water Overpowering the Hot?

Sorry I should have come back to you on this. I believe the showers have the valves built in: https://www.showerdoc.com/ultra-3-4-dual-control-valve-short-elbows-and-flanges-chrome-sa30918s Can these fail/are they worth replacing before the more expensive cartridge?

Thermostatic Shower Issue with Cold Water Overpowering the Hot?

No other suggestions then? Looks like I will need to try a replacement shower valve. The only other part that looks like it would go wrong is one of the springs. Which seemed fine when I took them apart.

Its a Salamander Pump ESP 100 - the cold water outlet is hidden in the photo.

Thermostatic Shower Issue with Cold Water Overpowering the Hot?

Interesting that you think it is not enough flow from the hot side rather than too much from the cold? When I run both hot a cold taps together in a sink for example there is a good flow from both when the pump is on which made me discount the idea.

Photo of the pump attached. The cylinder is covered by insulation but I can take it off if you think that would be useful?
