Garage (flat & shared) roof 6m x 6m. Thinking of (a - easy) cover with 250gm DPM and redo the sides and gutter end (6m x 3m as neighbour not doing as doesn't leak). (b) perhaps EPDM over felt (don't really want to remove the felt as too big a job at my age) and do the edges with folded EPDM and...
I want to install a small sink in a utility room for light washing duties. The sink will be a small one (200 x 340 approx) as the worktop is narrow.I'm thinking a 32mm outlet through the wall to a gulley then underground to a nearby sewer inspection chamber. The length of the underground is...
I've had another look and I could screw in some large screws about 200mm down and set 100mm insulation board (spray foam around the edge to seal it in and then remove the concrete from the lid and put a foam layer there to be level with the exist floor then lay some soft lino over. I'm hoping...
I have a concrete filled manhole cover (fitted when a porch was built over about 1980s) and the floor is not insulated. I can't take the floor up but condensation appears around the drain during cold weather due to the cold floor. The drain (brick built 600 x 450) is a surface water about a...
Thanks turned out that one of the valves was so tight and difficult to get to. Eventually released it. Old pump seemed to have a lot of black stuff in the walls.
Pump installed no leaks. Turn on the valves and set things going. Boiler working but no hot water coming through. Is it possible the isolation valves either side are stuck even though I've turned them back on? Thanks.
Well a flat roof double with ply under layer. It's a double skin brick built shared with neighbour. I have the option of doing my side alone. The roof is plain felt and I'm looking to add another layer with some profile Alu or upvc edging so i don't have to redo the sides, Could use lead I suppose.
Leaking and need to add a cover. Can't afford a new covering. Just asking should I:
1. glue the new layer down with mastic and if so best product?
2. Recommend a profile edge section for the raised sides?
Thanks.
Got a small wall to build and don't want to use mortar. What adhesive would glue the blocks together? They are just sitting on top of one another and no load in any direction.
The walls are 100 inner 50-70 cavity and 120 Purbeck stone uninsulated (can't insulate irregular block walls). So I am planning on laying the blocks lengthwise across the cavity leaving space for plaster inside and battens outside. Maybe you are suggesting a layer of insulation under the battens...
I am replacing a pitched roof (Marley tiles) above a porch with a sloping roof (same tiles) butting the house wall. The side walls of the porch are concrete block inner with stone outer and not insulated (so probably a U value of around 1.0). By changing the roof layout I will have a triangular...
