I had EXACTLY the same problem as Charlie567 - my boiler was coming on then switching off on its own accord.
I read the posts of Agile and ChrisR who also included a very helpful link to the Performa parts diagram, opened up the boiler and had a look at the switch.
It was indeed corroded...
