Advice re replacing grid dimmer switch please

Ignore last post. Realised that the positions on the new switch C L1 L2 are in different order! Swapped round and all working well. Romantic though it may seem, I much prefer having a shower under my lovely downlights. Thanks for listening. Amelia

In trouble............... Finally managed to get the old switch out. Have got the new one in place but it doesn't work. No fan or lights. Any ideas? The new switch does not have the metal piece on it but everything else the same. Old one in situ and with knob and cover removed...

Advice re replacing grid dimmer switch please

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marion_Morrison and yes, I am most definitely female! Just gone through all paperwork again. No mention of transformers. I bought everything for the new fit myself - except transformers, cables and switches! I have ordered a replacement (identical) dimmer...

Advice re replacing grid dimmer switch please

Sorry - Problem! Now I've unscrewed the metal case (because I couldn't get the switch out) I can see that the switch was never going to simply pop out. It's way too big to come forward. See pics. The fan switch next to it is so much smaller. I can now see it's a 500w dimmer. I...

Advice re replacing grid dimmer switch please

Thanks guys for your comments. I am going to make it my first New Years Day job tomorrow! If I can't get the dimmer out I guess I will have to give up and call the electrician. If I can I will order a Richmond one once I know what I want. Presumably there is some kind of label on it somewhere...

Advice re replacing grid dimmer switch please

When I took the front plate off to look this morning I remember seeing Mk on the box unit. The paperwork I have found in my "bathroom" folder (yes, I save everything!) is a Richmond Grid Dimmer instruction leaflet. I did press the clips in and try to get the switch out but was worried I...

Safe portable heating for empty house???

Thanks for all your comments. Very helpful. The estate agent has agreed with our decision to not fit anything! Re Warm air I lived in the bungalow with my Mum for over 20 years and found the system to be great. Instant heat when you want it. Was no more dusty than the house I live in now...

    Cold water pipe judder

Unfortunately this occurred following our bathroom fitting a couple of years ago. Everything is well and truly boxed and tiled in, with a lovely tiled floor and underfloor heating. :( They were a bunch of cowboy bodge artists who then went bust. We are hoping that when we get our kitchen done...

    Cold water pipe judder

Thanks for your reply to this. We still have the problem. In the end I turned the stop cock right down under the sink to quieten things down. It means my pressure from the tap in the kitchen is low, but I can live with that - at least the loo is quiet now. The worst thing is that the outside tap...
