    Poor velux fitting

Because they have always leaked when raining and today I sprayed a hose on them for a good 20 mins with someone inside watching for leaks. Definitly started leaking when it was sprayed - just in a few different points on the tops and bottoms. Nothing on the sides. On this point - I know that...

    Poor velux fitting

Spot on - tiles are 420 long and as you say it looks as if some do not have 100mm headlap. I know that some do though. What would you ask the builder to do if this was the case?

    Poor velux fitting

Excellent point. I must admit, I didn't measure every tile to see how much they overlapped each other, just two hich were about 110mm. So what people seem to be saying is that above the window looks OK? Even though its on the limit. However the bottom apron needs to overlap more than it does...

The exposed tile will be 370mm.

    Poor velux fitting

I measured the headlap - it's 100mm but the apron still only covers 50mm of the tile. I am not able to remeasure just popped over today to have a look for them.

    Poor velux fitting

Not sure what you mean that the tiles aren't covering 100mm? Umm, yes, I haven't checked to see if tiles above are stretched. No plastering has been done yet. I measured under the flashing to top of tile which was 50mm. In the fitting instructions it should be 130mm from wooden window frame to...

    Poor velux fitting

Hi all. I am writing this on behalf of my inlaws. They are having an extension built. Windows, electrics, floor and insulation are in but the Velux windows seem to be leaking. Builder has had a look but quite honestly we don't trust him. He will never admit any error, can never get hold of him...

    Time to fit internal doors..

He finished today. So it took him at least 2. 5 days to do the 5 doors - great job too. He went out today to get new doorstops for two of the doors as the old ones needed moving and broke. He filled in holes in the new frame in knots etc. Swept and hoovered all areas and took all rubbish away...

    Time to fit internal doors..

Oh OK great thanks. I am impressed with the work just don't know how long these things take etc. Tbh I never thought it would take a pro longer than two days but he doesn't seem to be in a rush. Cheers

    Time to fit internal doors..

OK, so I have got someone to fit 5 x internal 44mm thick oak veneer doors. I have supplied doors and door furniture. Three hindges on each and a privacy lock for a bathroom on one door and a deadbolt keyed lock for a garage door. They quoted 57 for the standard doors and 62 for the doors with...

    Supporting wall design liability

Yep there is a double skin wall at the top which is tied into the internal wall. There is a pitched roof spanning the extension but not really tied into it as such. The wall goes up into the pitch of the roof and is then tied into the existing wall of the house which I think gives it its main...

    Supporting wall design liability

I did talk to him and said that I can't find a 150mm dense concrete block. Maybe I should have used a lightweight block? Maybe he should have specified what he fecking wanted in the first place. Even still... If it was a 150mm lightweight or dense block, I imagine that the engineer will still...

Because a dense concrete block was specified. I don't consider a thermalite block to be a dense concrete block?

    Supporting wall design liability

Yes he did the calcs himself. The drawings were checked and approved by b/c. The structural engineer is sourced by me. I personally think its fine. Its tied into the roof by way of wooden batterns, the wall is also tied into the perpendicular wall that runs above it and there is a 100mm block...
