LABC have quoted £220 to include the testing by a contractor.. No mention of visit charges

Well all in all, I think I have more understanding of what's involved - outside of the technical aspects of doing the job. I will ask around my area to see if anyone has experience of helpful, or unhelpful building control officer.. see what my chances of keeping on their right side are. :-)

Thanks Eric... A comprehensive and slightly disheartening message. Long gone are the days of being able to light up your eyes in the comfort of your own home! So I am left with the option of leaving what I consider old an unsafe wiring, so I don't break any rules... or to replace it...

IEE 17th, I kind of covered with "Part P certificate on the end results... " I would have to do the work to the current standards to get the cert - right LABC: I covered with "it is BC notifiable" With regard to test equipment, a recommendation would be good... was thinking a continuity...
