Please help -at my wits end

So today the heating wouldn't switch off, not from the programmer switch (off/timer/on setting at side of clock dial)!!!! I had to turn the mains off. And now the boiler wont light at all...not for water or heating. BG on their way out again. Ani

Hi Thanks for all of the above. Yes the boiler is 24iRSF combi, fitted in 1997. I will print all of your message off and pass to the engineer next time he is here. The pcb and fan have been replaced at least 3 times, twice by Worcester when they couldn't work out why the boiler had this...

Hi Thanks for the input ...it seems to have had a new pump every year for the last 10 yrs. I will pass the message on to the young BG guy who has been coming out. Though he is convinced its something to do with the meter...cant see how myself as my gas cooker isn't effected. The young chap...

The BG engineer took the flue apart and checked the outside bit and said it was fine. Its just weird that the boiler is only faulty when its below zero or very windy. Thanks Ani

OK, so National Grid came out for a third time. I need a new meter because the battery is faulty. Boiler has worked OK for the last week or so but 6pm tonight, luckily just after the child had a bath, the hot water stops heating. I took the cover off the front of the boiler, to see if the gas...

Dont know if this makes any difference but to get the boiler to ignite in a morning we have to turn off and back on at mains electric switch AND run the hot water tap. Switching mains on/off doesn't work unless we also run the tap. Most times we have to turn tap on/off several times. Ani xx

Pump is fine...when the boiler actually decides to ignite!

Yep done Tony...no difference, so dont think the suggestion of meter valve was correct but the BG engineer says it can only be the meter now. :(

Think I'd be better off asking Santa to come fix it...more likelihood of it actually being done!

LOL! Apparently they are National Grid now! 3 visits from them and 6 visits from BG engineer and still the boiler will not combust in a morning off the timer. :( Been told by NG today the meter is past it's life, its over 10yrs old and has an "F" showing for 'faulty battery'. Really dont...

The engineer has called the meter people in trans-something...says the only other thing it can be is the outside valve/supply system! Makes sense to me. Ani xx

The engineers have been out three times now. Still the boiler will not combust/light when it switches on via the timer in a morning, but only when the outside temp is below freezing. I have another engineer coming out this afternoon but as the temps have been above freezing for the last two...

OK, so I rang the letting agents on 6/12/12 to ask them to send another engineer. Still not heard from them this morning so called them back. Engineer is coming tomorrow between 8am and 1pm. Fair enough but the lad on the other end of the phone (letting agents) tried to tell me it was a...
