    Fuse in extractor fan circuit

You will need to fit a fan isolater ( This enables you to remove or service the fan without having to turn off your lighting.) Easiest way is to fit a Switched Fused Connection Unit ( FCU) between the lighting pull cord switch unit, and the fan itself. If you have room on your bathroom...

simulating fault conditions for RCD testing

Thanks FWL I appreciate your reply. The background to my query was asking if others knew a way of making the RCD trip on a PME -but it seems others dont even do the simulated faults. And yes time is money. Thanks again - your advice is always useful.

simulating fault conditions for RCD testing

ok. thanks for the reply Ban_ I didnt want to get into a long winded post - so I omitted writing about the testing on a RCD tester - which obviously has to happen,I assumed that you'd know I'd do these tests. To clarify, I use a Robin KMP 5404 Digital RCD tester. I was always taught to...

simulating fault conditions for RCD testing

When I perform simulated faults to test an RCD , I would normally bridge the N and E - and this trips the RCD. However, on the PME System the Neutral to Earth is already linked in the CU. Anyone any views on the best way to simulate or manufacture a fault to test the RCD on a PME system...

    Bizzare RCD

I thought the RCD has only been tripping since you started working on the circuits? If it was tripping before you interrupted the circuit, then there are loads of reasons why it could be tripping. Even down to a faulty RCD...(Yes they can go wrong)

    Low voltage kitchen cabinet lights

ok. you have a 2 gang wall switch that is plastered into the wall. I'm reading this, as you have only used one side of the 2 gang.and there is only one cable? You need power to the switch, and you need power back (when its switched on.) There are a couple of options for using the...

How to fit wiring into an electric cooker to install same?

( Some cookers work from a simple plug-in, - others require 6mm connecting to terminals at the rear of the housing.) You connect a length of 6 mm from the cooker switch to a 'cooker connection unit' Normally sited out of view - and you connect the two 6mm 's (from the cooker and the...

How to fit wiring into an electric cooker to install same?

ok. As its a new cooker, it will have installation procedures. I'm GUESSING it will say to use 6 mm cable top connect. But you need to verify that. IF it stipulates 6mm - then you cannot wire it direct to a 3 pin plug!! It HAS to be connected to a 'cooker connection box'
