It was soft sheen but i did sand down to take the shine off! The funny thing is that i tried another wall which had a more rough texture on it and it was fine!

They were both matt emulsions! I was careful not mix as i heard silk and matt dont mix well, is that right?

Thanks for that mate. When you say soda do you mean sugar soap? Also i have tried the pva and unfortunately it still blistered! Think im at a loss really! May be take the lot off back to the plaster do you think?
