    I don't know if one can be fitted. its auite an old system. I thought that the boiler stat would control the temp of the water in the system as you say, so it would stop the rads getting too hot?

    I've just got the stat under the fire which goes from 1 to 5, 5 for winter, and 2 for summer. mines is just over one at the moment

    Yes, ive turned the stat which sits under the fire down to just over 1, and the rads are still too hot.
