Well got the valve out and its definatly no good, its all rusted inside. Will order a new one and see if it fixes the problem:)

After a further look, the what i assume is a solinoid located next to the softener is badly corroded and the mulimeter shows infnite reistance. Does anybody know what this part is called, and if this would cause the problems im getting? See photos...
