    Potterton Puma 80e pump

Thanks a lot, I think that explains it. So the pump is only for the central heating side and I can rest assured that any added inhibitor will never reach the hot water side? Is that correct?

    Potterton Puma 80e pump

Can anyone tell me if the pump on this combi boiler is used for the central heating or hot water or both? It seems to run for both.

Ideal Elan2 Pilot Light very small

OK, pro called, news bad, boiler leaking, maybe years, condemned now, new required, £1960 installed, ouch.

    Potterton Puma 80e not working

OK, I think I've fathomed this now. The ch will not come on if the boiler switch is in standby. Also, it will not come on if the system thinks there is a hot water demand. The problem appears to be that the microswitch has rusted a bit and so sometimes sticks in the on (closed contact) position...

    Potterton Puma 80e not working

Hi All I have a potterton puma 80e which is not working after being left idle for 5 weeks. If I turn on a hot water tap, it gushes faster initially than it used to (but then slows down again back to how it used to be) but doesn't manage to cause the boiler to fire up. I am having to turn on...

Ideal Elan2 Pilot Light very small

Hi All I have an Ideal Elan2 which was left idle for about 5 weeks whilst I was on holiday. On returning, I can't seem to light the pilot. When I press the piezo ignition button, (if) it lights the pilot, the flame is very small, almost invisible and as soon as I release the Gas Control Valve...

Potterton Puma 80e hot water very hot then runs cold

Hi All. I have a Puma 80e which recently has started to deliver very hot water (hotter than before), it does this for perhaps a minute and then the hot switches off and you get cold water for about a minute or so (the flames stop burning) and then the water starts getting hot again until its...

    Potterton Puma 80e

I changed the pcb and the thing works like a dream now. Its an issue 5 board, nice thick "legs" for the 2 problem resistors. Also noticed that the time between gas on and ignition is a lot smaller so it doesn't "whoomph" like it used to. The diverter valve still leaks so its obviously...

    Potterton Puma 80e

Yes, this one did about 6 years ago almost to the day, it must have a built in calendar. Resistor R1 went, I resoldered and it lasted until now. This time, resoldering doesn't seem to have made a difference. The water is coming out of the little hole (holes?) in the diverter valve. What are...

    Potterton Puma 80e

Hi, I have one of these and following the fault finding flowchart, I think the modulation board needs replacing (no leds on, 240v present on board, transformer does not have 240v supply but when it does, returns 24vDC across the 2 yellow wires). However, since I have been investigating the...
