Can't find any bits for nice Makita cordless driver - help!

Has anyone tried those 6kg Titan jobs? They seem very cheap and like they're able to take down a small castle

Can't find any bits for nice Makita cordless driver - help!

@neds - it is a lovely piece of kit. I bought a Makita brand drill bit set which has seen me through 18 months without a problem, you can also still buy hex stuff, just not anything particularly big or specialist.

Can't find any bits for nice Makita cordless driver - help!

Chaps, thanks. Thought that might be the case. Rather than start a new thread, can anyone recommend any decent SDS drills, specifically to take over from where this Makita combi leaves off? Will be for occasional drilling masonary / concrete so not worth going mad, and doesnt have to be...

Can't find any bits for nice Makita cordless driver - help!

So, I bought one of these about 18 months ago, was sold on the LiIon battery and the impact driver mode: Makita BTP140 - 4 in one, with impact driver. It's been great so far, best power tool I've owned and can happily drive 200mm screws all day. It uses hex bits and has a quick change...

Pergola / Deck post fixing advice

@ xdave - Glad you like it :) Designing it with Sketchup meant I could make all the mistakes 'virtually' rather than with expensive wood (like not accounting for joist spacing for 45 degree angled boards). It's all clear WRC and I'm planning on oiling it up, should look nice. Silva recommended a...

Pergola / Deck post fixing advice

@ColJack Yeah, I think I know what you mean. This sort of thing? If I could find decent things I could concrete in, then attach the posts to, that could work. As long as they were strong as and corrosion resistant However, looking through this forum, this approach seems to be not...

Pergola / Deck post fixing advice

@Wabbit - yes, good spot. The pic doesn't have it in, but I'm planning on doing exactly that for the roof beams. @Thermo - The ground isn't especially stable, I'll try a few local-ish timber merchants I've opted for cedar posts simply for the look, so the whole external is cedar. I guess I...

Pergola / Deck post fixing advice

Hi, So, I've gone and drawn up a deck / pergola, designed using timber that's availble from Silva Timber Product's (decksupply.co.uk). The design incorporates 5 3.66m 90x90 western red cedar posts which form pergola posts, railing posts and which would be concreted into 80cm holes in the...

    Oiled or lacquered oak floor?

I would do it myself, it's just that I'm not confident I would do a good job, especially around 'problem areas' such as door furniture and other places where I couldn't use skirting to hide the edges. Do you have any tips and tricks for this? For instance, I've seen before where a cut seems...

Laying duoplank on new concrete floor - newbie

Excellent forum - really handy. I've just had a new concrete floor layed with a proper DPM and 3 inch screed. I understand I've got to wait for about 3 months before the concrete dries. Am looking to use oiled european oak duoplank (nice and stable). It'd going to cover about 60m2, across 4...

    Oiled or lacquered oak floor?

Hello all, 1st post Having my house renovated and looking to put down a wood floor for the whole ground floor, including the kitchen, total area is 70m2 on a concrete screed. I've pretty much made my mind up to go for the Duoplank engineered prime european board (looks good for stability...
