Indeed the thermal store is perfect for instant hot water and central heating, downside is the amount of water.
Guys it was second time lucky and after the re-fill no more leaks. I have since found these pipes go to the conservatory heater which was retro'd when the previous owner had it...
Thanks guys,
Heated again, took off and wiped off solder. Sanded/wire wool and clean pipe again. Refluxed and soldered again and now re-filling. The trouble is i have a thermal store and takes an age to drain and re-fill! Oh well I'm learning......
Right all done, used a normal 15mm coupler and a 15mm slip coupler but after filling i have noticed a very slight wince from 1 side of the slip coupler. I guess this is bad news and will need to cut and try again? I suppose re-heating the coupler is a no no?
Hi picasso,
Thanks for this. I believe the pipe is 15mm so will look at getting these can you get these with solder in like the yorkshire ones i have?
I assume these are just without the slight indent in the middle.
Thanks
Barry
Guys,
Thanks all for your suggestions. It is indeed a doorway. Spent most of yesterday evening removing door and taking up laminate flooring in other room and taking more floor boards up. The sawing was down to myself and a structural engineer as we are taking a wall down below and need to...
Hi All,
I was taking up floor boards today and i have sawn/grazed one of the central heating pipes in the process. There is no leak but there is about a few mm graze/cut in the pipe and i was wondering what the best action was.
Is it safe to ignore/leave or does it require filling with...
The power to the valve is twinned into the rad pump, so when central heating comes on it must open. Would this be fitted to stop the water moving from the store around the rads?
Brian,
Thanks for your post. I think it may be well worth checking the sludge in the bottom of the store, to rule it out. How can i check the flow temperature? Do i just put some gauge on the return pipe?
Also regarding the wet vacuum approach, how do i start getting the immersion...
Cheers Andy, yes the pump on the bottom left is the one replaced. We also had the other red pump in the below picture replaced. The store thermostat was also replaced around the same time. Since then the store seems to have been ok.
The Boiler feed and return pipes are on the bottom left...
