oh forget it. I forgot what this forum was like. What with people being pendantic about the movement of heat or "hot air". And people telling me to brick up and double insulate my £400 shed when I said I was after a cheap way to improve the heat retention just a bit.. Everyone trying to outdo...
I dont think its a simple as what % is the roof. Surely because heat rises. the roof will loose more heat than say, a wall with the same surface area? I agree insulating the walls too would be ideal but they are already fully covered with stuff.
The thinking behind insulating the roof is that...
Em, afraid I have to disagree there. Effective is simply a word that mean something that has an effect. Any insulation you use would "have an effect" i.e. be effective. Also, insulation is not on or off. it's an analogue scale. I don't expect 100% heat retention. That would be a bit tricky. So...
Do i really need all those 4 stages? bearing in mind im trying to do it as cheaply as possible. Why felt?
Im just talking about insulating from the inside. sorry if I wasnt clear on that.
The walls are nearly all covered and fairly well insulated by objects anyway. And it would be a...
Hi,
Basically just looking for some ideas here, all welcome!
I have a 10x13 Yardmaster shed which I have wired and set-up nicely as my little home workshop. Very happy with the shed itself.
I have a 3Kw fan heater in it which I can turn on and it heats it up pretty quickly but as...
Has anyone any experience with these? http://www.ukdrills.com/product.php?catid=266
They are about £15 cheaper than any other 19pc set for cobalts. But not sure of the quality? I emailed them and they said they are made in China and are 5% cobalt. (the norm)
I don't need ludicrously good...
Well the idea of the thermostat was to do exactly that, ensure the shed and its contents dont get too hot when I'm not there to flick a switch. But as you said, there is a concern over effectiveness. i.e. will there be any.
Yes thats a concern, its 10x13ft. Im wondering if it will do anything at all as the eaves are not sealed. It's one of these. Yardmaster 1013
In fairness I haven't yet experienced excess heat (its been up a week) but I live in Scotland so maybe this wont be a problem and I need to focus more...
Thanks. Will look for that. Yeah the 2 degrees was just off the top of my head. Whatever the norm is will be fine.
Something like this? http://www.screwfix.com/p/horstmann-drt1-room-thermostat/53729
The next issue i have is whether this will actually work or not. There are many gaps under...
Hi I have a metal workshop that I am installing a bathroom extractor fan to to aid air flow on hot days (or manually if I want to rid of fumes whatever). Whats the cheapest way to wire the fan through some sort of thermostat that will trigger it to come on when it reaches say 25 degrees, and...
It's not decking mate. It's the foundation for the shed. Just the very end 20cm drops off. But I wanted the foundations in solid ground rather than the slabs.
