Thanks for your reply. Having bought a router and used it - precariously, on top of a ladder! - to cut a groove in the edge of a door, I wondered if there was any kit that permitted me to do this work more safely and more precisely. I checked out router tables but they do not overcome the twin...

I need to cut a groove approx 15 mm wide in the 35 mm wide edge of a door 77 cm wide. An inexpensive router seems the obvious tool but would it be possible to achieve the necessary stability on such a narrow (and comparatively lengthy) work surface? Alternatively, do routers come with guides...
