Hi I will do. I'll update after they've been next week. They are wall repair specialists.
It's actually a 1930s house so pretty old. It's just one of them things where you spot something and double-take, and think "has that just happened in or was it always there?"
I think I probably would...
He suspected wall tie corrosion causing a crack although it is an internal wall but near the front door so maybe some pressure has been forced on the plaster from a dodgy tie.
Ah right, cheers. I've tapped the Z shaped now and to be honest it sounds the same as the surrounding area. It seems like the plaster has cracked under the paper. I have got somebody coming out next Wednesday to assess it
Yeah it feels hard when I run a finger over the shape, I can't feel any noticeable crack or anything like that. I've seen the odd lump and bump in plaster in different houses before but was just struck by the shape here. No idea if that kind of shaped defect in plaster is common or not.
Hi, thanks I'll check when I get back from work. I forgot to mention the wall is papered and the straight line is two separate sheets of wallpaper.
If blown plaster should it be repaired or is it more a cosmetic issue?
I noticed this reverse Z-shaped protuberance in the hallway last night with the light on. It is just a wall that separates the living room and the hallway - it does not back on to outside.
Does anyone know what it is and how it would be fixed if you think it needs fixing? Thanks.
