    Upgrading cooker questions.

Ok ColJack, sounds like I should be ok with what i've got. The plan is... 1) Change the Cooker Socket for one without a 13A socket incorporated. 2) Connect the cooker and see how it goes. 3) IF the fuse blows, will have to re-think ... 40A breaker AND 10mm cable? Ouch, that'll be...

So, if my circuit length is less than 20m, that is good for using what I already have installed ... I shouldn't need to upgrade anything ... yes?

CU to Cooker Socket would be approx. 15m - 20m max.

    Upgrading cooker questions.

Hi Davy, isn't the POTENTIAL full load 6.25kW (27 Amps), in which case the 30A fuse should cover it? Hmmmmm..... looks like Securespark has just posted some excellent information. Taking all this excellent information into account, and unless somebody has any real concerns with this, I...

    Upgrading cooker questions.

Crafty, sorry, don't have a manual at present. Cooker is not new - no manuals supplied! Only got it last weekend, hoping to fit this weekend! All i've got to go on at present is a label on the appliance. Phoned Belling today to order manual - it's in the post!

Crafty, thanks for that explanation. I sure that I read somewhere that this Belling Range Cooker has some sort of safety control on it which "cycles" the appliance so that even though all of them maybe turned on, it never actually draws the full load ... can't remember where I read that but...

    Upgrading cooker questions.

Thanks for the replies, ColJack: Sorry, no other details available ... don't have the handbook! Surely if 6.25kW is the total of all the parts, then why can I not have more than one part on at any time? ... am I missing something here? ricicle: So, if I was to change the Cooker...

    Upgrading cooker questions.

Hi, I am looking to replace my existing cooker with a range cooker and would like to find out if my fuse and wiring etc. is up to it? The cooker details are as follows :- Belling Farmhouse Range Cooker, Model No: 932 It has a Gas hob (so no electrical issues there!), but the rest is...

    Extractor Fan wiring

Aha, in that case, the socket supplying the circuit in question is on the downstairs ring main which I believe is protected by a standard 30A fuse wire in the main fusebox.

    Extractor Fan wiring

Hi Securespark. Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by this? Would that not be the switched FCU fitted between the 13A socket connection and the fan itself?

    Extractor Fan wiring

Thanks for the reply JohnD. Just to clarify, there is no 13A plug involved. The power is sourced from the back of a 13A socket (short length of flex out the edge of the facia!). This short length of flex then enters a switched FCU (don't know what the fuse in there is rated yet!). Another...

    Extractor Fan wiring

Hi, I have just moved house and in the kitchen there is an existing electric Xpelair extractor fan vented through the wall to outside. It looks like it is wired from an existing 13amp socket via an isolating switch using 1.0mm twin and earth flex (pinned to the wall surface). I would like to...
