Hotpoint Aquarius WT540 "Extra Rinse" Flashing Fau

Ah yes, but this machine has been working fine since 2006. It has begun failing in the past few days.

Hotpoint Aquarius WT540 "Extra Rinse" Flashing Fau

I have just disconnected and re-connected the switch/LED board again. The machine is now working again. I have also cleaned the door lock connector contacts. I have started the machine, but I suspect that the machine may not complete the cycle. What could be causing this need for a...

Hotpoint Aquarius WT540 "Extra Rinse" Flashing Fau

I did actually do this the other day. It seemed to work, but then failed to complete the wash cycle. The same problem has recurred. There must be a fault somewhere.

Hotpoint Aquarius WT540 "Extra Rinse" Flashing Fau

My Hotpoint Aquarius WT540 "Extra Rinse" (LED 5) is Flashing. The machine won't switch on/off from the button. On the previous wash the "Extra Rinse" lamp had been illuminated continuously and the cycle failed to complete. The manual...

Replacment UPVC Door Lock 'keepers'(?) For Security

UPVC doors, possibly ~20 years old. In order to increase security, I'm looking to replace the metal castings that the 'dogs' slide into when the UPVC door handle is lifted and locked. Ideally I'd like something stronger/less brittle, like stainless steel, that wouldn't just crack if...

    Large Plastic Drain Gully Cover?

As the grid keeps getting filled with leaves, I've been looking for a cover for the gully that collects the drains from the bath and sinks in the back garden. The gully is approx 50cm wide x 30cm deep. All of the covers I've seen and have found on the www have been 30cm or less wide, like...

Plasterboarding under existing (asbestos) garage ceiling?

What would be the benefit of this in a garage situation? Vapour barrier normally going on the warm side of insulation. NB. The garage is heated to 13DegC.

Plasterboarding under existing (asbestos) garage ceiling?

    That was my thought too.

Plasterboarding under existing (asbestos) garage ceiling?

I have a 1930s house. It was apparently extended in the 1970s, including an integral garage with a bedroom above it. There's no ceiling insulation in the garage and, as a result, nor is there any sound-proofing. "Asbestolux" type board was clout-nailed(!) to the garage ceiling joists when it...

    Air being sucked into system

It immediately went quiet when the boiler shut off.

    Air being sucked into system

I'm now sat in the room with the pump. What sounds like huge slugs of air air being produced from the boiler, passed through the pump and into the radiator, with a lot of noise -whooshing and hissing. It's as if the boiler is heating the water and then a load of air is being forced out...

    Air being sucked into system

It is mostly quite quiet. There is some noise when it sounds as if air is being pulled through it.

    Air being sucked into system

The flow pipe comes from the boiler, rises into the floor void above it, turns to the horizontal and then reaches the pump. The rad filling with air is then about 2m from the pump's positive pressure side. I'll check the pump joints.

    Air being sucked into system

I'm not quite following. The vent is T'd into the flow pipe of the cylinder primary coil. the feed is T'd into the the return from the cylinder. The pump is in the flow line to the radiators. The pump makes air pumping noises and the closest radiator to the pump fills with air. The others...

    Air being sucked into system

There was air pumped into the upstairs radiator again this morning. This could be down to residual air in the system, but I'm not convinced. Next stop, check for leaks....
