New system will have magma clean. Just stumped right now as what to try next.

Back again. Getting new system installed soon but need heat now. New pump sorted problem for a day all rads roasting hot. Gone back to old situation upstairs warm downstairs cold. So. Drained whole system emptied rads. Then sealed them up and let system flush all air out via drain valve. Filled...

Investing in new system next year.current system has seen its day. Pump is a quick fix but boiler seem better days and pipe work starting to leak. got heat for Xmas that’s main thing. Thanks everyone.

Update. New pump fitted. All rads very hot. Appears problem solved. Thanks for all advice really appreciated.

Bit of an update. Locked all the upstairs rads and the downstairs one are getting slightly warmer. Got pump today possibly old one is flagging a bit now so will see what new one does

the expense of an engineer fitting a new one is a lot more expensive than me putting one in. Just trying to rule out initial problems before bringing engineer in.

I agree. I think there is an airlock somewhere. Also my header tank overflow had a flow of water coming out. Not excessively just a steady stream. Read that this might also be a pump problem. Either way the existing pump has been in since 2007! So I thinks it’s due a change. At the very least...

Thanks for posting. I have turned the rads down as much as I can as still want heat upstairs. Has made a little bit of difference but downstairs still only Luke warm. Am hoping a new pump will re energise the system. Once fitted going to turn all rads off except one to push any air through...

That sounds reasonable. The pump I have has been in for over 10 years so it’s process of elimination mow.
