The 'fear' that it's heating up a lot more hot water than we need.
I will look into restricting demand (especially for spring / summer). Thanks for your input.
Greetings,
a very basic question from an end user with no technical knowledge.
We recently moved into a new house that has a Gas boiler (Worcester Bosch Greenstar 27Ri) and a Boilermate II.
A Hive smart thermostat controls the heating and the hot water.
I have no understanding of how the...
Thanks
it was indeed a fuse, unfortunately the spur box was behind a panel wall which I didn't even know could be removed.
Boiler now working and Nest installed successfully.
Thanks everyone for your help / input
With the old Altech receiver, even if you switched it off or unplugged, the boiler would still work for hot water etc. Now the boiler is just not getting any power at all.
1. - no, the light comes on in the Nest but nothing happens with the boiler. The I/O light on the boiler is not coming on at all.
2. yea that's correct. L/N from the junction box, and COM/NO to the boiler.
I've rewired the Altech receiver back the way it was, with the L/N from the JB and wired...
Yea will look into it, although I am fast approaching the end of my comfort zone.
All I did was: isolate mains> remove NO/COM from old stat> remove L/N from J box to old stat> rewire NO/COM to new stat> switch mains back on and the boiler is gone. So I'm a bit puzzled. Never touched the L/N/E...
Nothing I can see or that I'm aware of the whole time I've lived here, apart from the fuse box switch (that isolates all the wall plugs in the boiler room, not just the boiler).
Sorry :(
I don't think so. There's no fused switch for the junction box or the boiler. I isolated the mains from the fuse box.
The mains connection appear from the back of the J box coming out of the wall. (Attached photo)
hi again
so I went back to the shop and swapped the NEst 3rd gen for a Nest-e as it seemed easier to install.
Removed L and N that were left dangling from the Altech, connected NO and COM to the Nest, and then I went back to turn the mains on and the boiler now doesn't turn back on...
I've...
