    Lockshield valves

I've been reading about balancing radiators by adjusting the lockshield valve, but they all go on about taking the cap of and turning it with a spanner. Mine says Cresta Lux and has a + and - sign on it . Am I right in assuming + will increase the flow and - reduce it? My radiator is cold...

I plan to put a sign above the toilet. "NO SOLIDS!"

    Understairs cloakroom (again)

Not feasible if it needs to run through a ceiling void, no. Is there a problem with running it under the floor? (That's just a ceiling void at ground level isn't it? :) )

    Understairs cloakroom (again)

Thanks. No, it's an old house, and yes there is room for a toilet and basin. Not sure about the extractor fan though, it would have to cross about 5 foot of hallway (under the floorboards) to reach the outside wall, and then it would exit into the alleyway at shin level, is this acceptable...

    Understairs cloakroom (again)

I was reading that all new houses are built with a downstairs toilet for access by wheelchair users. My understairs "cloakroom" has a step down to it, does this mean that it won't pass the building regs rules? Thanks.

Windows in en suite (in bedroom)

Is it a legal necessity to have a window in an en suite? Or does the extractor fan suffice? Thanks

Putting in a downstairs toilet - crivens!!!

Thanks Hi-spec, how do I know where the invert is if it's under concrete? Is there a "standard depth" that they are set under the ground level?

Putting in a downstairs toilet - crivens!!!

I was going to put a toilet "under the stairs", take the soil pipe through the wall and join it into the existing soil stack, near ground level. I just read a post on another forum that says: "If vent (stench) pipe is actually a soil pipe, with existing WC connection above, a ground level...

    Joining soil pipes together

I need to run a 4 metre soil pipe from an understair cupboard to the outside to join up with the soil stack. I don't have enough room to manoevre 4 metres, can I just cut it in 2 and then join it together again once under the floor? Is this push fit adapters or solvent weld? Also joing it to...
