Thanks anyway, but having got a friend to check the machine, the conclusion was a faulty control board and have decided to buy a new machine.

Washing machine was working fine until yesterday when it appeared to have died, left it on setting and after a short while it started as normal. Today it appears to have completely died as nothing is happening at all. Power to the machine is fine but I need help in any further fault finding, can...
