Emulsion not covering metal corner plaster trim

Thanks both! I wondered if some sort of primer or specialist paint might be needed. I’ve attached a pic for info - it is the corner bead.

Emulsion not covering metal corner plaster trim

We've recently had our walls plastered including new metal corners trims. we're now painting, and whilst the walls have covered fine, the metal edge of the corner bead is still visible - the paint just isn't adhering to it. Seems to have affected the white walls much more than the coloured ones...

    Metal Corner Bead

Hi All, We've recently had a bunch of building work done including our internal walls plastering (some new walls, some skimming over existing walls. All the external corners have metal corner bead on, and whilst the 2 flat sides of the trim are covered in plaster, the very corner still shows the...

    Loft Options - opinions please

Hey, thanks so much for the reply. I don't have any particular concerns about load bearing, but just am aware it could be a factor. The joists were a little smaller than I expected at around 70mm x 35mm, but I've been told for the size and style of loft that's fine. If it's really somewhere in...

    Loft Options - opinions please

My Pros/Cons on the options 1. Board directly over existing insulation. Pros: quick, cheap Cons: low insulation level, potential for condensation with no gap? (though floor is not above bathroom) 2. As 1, but cross-brace (i have some 63mm x 38mm timber already) to create air gap. Pros: still...

    Loft Options - opinions please

Looking for opinions on how to best solve my loft quandry! Main requirement: lay boarding to 3m x 1.5m section of centre of loft to improve storage. Subsidiary Requirement: increase insulation - currently only 70mm of glass fibre (probably original - 1981 built house) between joists...

    Lawn Mower motor problems

Hey guys. I have a Bosch Rotak 34R electric rotary mower, only a couple of years old and not used that much. Last weekend whilst attempting to cut the grass I noticed the motor sounded higher pitched than normal (slight whine) and then I noticed quite a pungent burning smell. Opened it all...

Loft boarding and Insulation questions/advice - HELP!

Thanks so much for digging this old post out and replying, I really appreciate that! So cross-battening will help to spread the load, without needing to worry too much about the additional weight of the battens and flooring? Storage-wise it will be suitcases, some storage boxes of old...

Insulation and Loft Boarding - Condensation Questions

Thanks so much, that’s what I thought! So would laying insulation board above the joists/wool cause also trap the condensation against the wool then? In which case is it advisable to use board OR wool, not both? Honestly I’m tempted to just not worry about any additional insulation and...

    Leaking Radiator

thanks! How to clean the threads? Wire brush or something? And does quality of ptfe tape make a difference? I have some real cheap stuff that came in a cheap set. Won’t use it again if it’s worth getting better stuff though.

Thanks, just had a look/feel. Top one feels bone dry, bottom one feels wet underneath.

Loft Boarding a single detached garage (ed.)

That’s perfect, thank you. That’s exactly how my roof is. In that diagram am I right in thinking the joist is the horizontal timber across the bottom?

    Leaking Radiator

Hey guys, hoping someone can help. I have a small leak from my rad, and I think it may be where the pipe connects to the rad itself, see the discolouration in the attached pic. there’s only a very slight amount of water leakage, and it feels most wet underneath this connection. How...

Loft Boarding a single detached garage (ed.)

Sorry to post jump, but what's a trussed rafter versus a joist? i thought joists were the horizontals that you would board on, and rafters were the angled ones that the pitched roof is fixed to?
