in question to your advice do you not think the fault on the hot water and heating are related in some way!!! and how can i check the function of the fan?

firstly problem on hot water circuit is that the boiler will light in correct manner but then will only remain on for 5 secs then shut off, the boiler will then relight its self and this pattern will continue over and over! - problem on the heating side is that the heating will work...
