Many thanks, for your helpful, thorough, point by point replies.
I suppose I could look at an existing circuit (as opposed to a new circuit) as like Trigger’s broom (from Only Fools and Horses) – if you recall (?) Trigger was awarded a medal for saving the council money in his road...
Indeed, I do not know. I wondered if there might be some kind of official definition of a 'new' circuit, as opposed 'repaired', 'replaced', 'altered', etc., or if those of you with the experience may lean more one way than the other.
But actually, whether 'new' circuit or not, and so notifiable...
I had assumed (rightly or wrongly) that a re-connection of a cable into the consumer unit would be straightforward, with no regulations issues, as there was a hob connection there before, with 32A MCB and the shared RCD protection.
To expand a little, the original 6mm cable was however changed...
(y) Don't beat about the bush, come straight out with it!
Reading through their manual / installation instructions, even I have been wondering about that! I get the impression the manual is a bit of a generic cut and paste job.
Very good point!
I know even less about electrics in mainland Europe as I do about electrics in UK!! but I did find it interesting that when I was investigating the possibility of a 13A MCB (because the oven spec said hardwired with 13A fuse protection, so I thought maybe, etc. etc. ...), while...
So you would not be concerned about the Bosch specs explicitly stating "13A fuse protection"?
(Could they not get out of any problem by saying 'you did not have 13A fuse protection'?)
(I have noticed the cable supplied with the oven is rated 16A, so what is the "13A fuse protection"...
Well, it was going to a 32A, but connection at CU has been disconnected (didn't even realise, but must have been disconnected when electricians were round doing some new cabling a while back), so could be reconnected to whatever MCB size is best - 16A, 20A, ... ?
Yes, purchased, Bosch HQA574BS3B ("Connection rating 2990 W", "Plug type - no plug (electrical connection by electrician)", "Fuse protection 13A")
Just starting kitchen re-fit - behind planned new oven position is old back box (no CCU fitted), with 2.5mm2 wiring from there to DP isolation...
So, if there might be a heat issue, would you perhaps be inclinded to fit a normal cooker connection unit behind oven, and fit in a fused connection unit with 13A fuse (for the specified fuse protection requirement) somewhere else between cooker connection unit and consumer unit?
Query regarding the position of the oven cooker connection outlet behind the oven, and its implications.
(Sorry bit long, but a number of overlapping questions in my head about this.)
My oven installation instructions shows a diagram with a hatched area and states “the mains socket for the...
OP here, lots of interesting stuff, some a bit over my head! but couple of things to chip in...
So, is the general consensus that the 32A MCB is the most appropriate here, rather than dropping to a 20A or something?
And, what significance may the length of the 5G 1.5mm2 flex be? Would being...
Back to that 5 core cable, just noticed this circuit diagram in the manual:
Are you really supposed to re-do the separate Lives and Neutrals, and crimp them together as shown, before fixing into the cooker outlet plate !?? Or just put each pair, unjoined just as the 5 core cable was supplied...
