Thank you for your comments. Would it be possible to buy a new IR if the foil is getting to hot I tried a search for one that looks like mine but none showed up probably be to old I am assuming its not a built in part of the transformer.

Looking at the picture of the IR there is an red disc and it is marked 340V 3.6mA is this a capacitor and the white one above (which you can see in the other picture is marked .047 uF. when I opened the machine at first the red one had a leg not soldered to anything and I thought it was from...

Thank you once again. i have never seen a machine like this it is very heavy and two transformers inside, one is huge and heavy along with a printed circuit board and the cables which contain the heating clips are 1/2" dia but the tape used for the carpet joining is very thin with glue on one...
