It did turn out to be a false economy - a plumber charges 60 pounds for fitting a tap, doesn't raise any concern with the suitability of the new tap, changes the tap and tells us not to touch the basin (due to fresh sealant!) for few hours and when called the very next day, he says it was a...
Well, I called up the plumber who fitted the tap and explained the problem to him. He said the water flow is low because its a wrong tap. He fitted the tap because he was given this tap and its not his problem if its a wrong tap - he can put a new one for me at a discounted rate of 50 pounds...
Also, the kitchen tap is a single level mixer tap as well but the flow seems to be lot better there. Just wondering (hoping!) that there could be some other problem with the bathroom mixer tap...
buck51 - any quick fixes or anything I can do to improve the flow?
If not, can I buy a tap and change it myself or a dummy like me could end up flooding the house :(
Yes, might sound stupid - I am renting a property (sorry, didnt want to spend 50 quid on a tap even though it would last longer) which has a very old boiler with a humongous cylinder at a certain height in the utility room and I think the hot water is fed by gravity...
So, the problem is...
Sorry Paul, I would have no idea about that...I am a dummy in this area..
I just know that all other taps in the house (including a different type kitchen mixer tap) is working fine..
Missus was supposed to check the tap before the plumber left - that has not happened and I am sitting and...
I am no expert but based on my personal experience the 180 degree turn shower screen or the fixed ones are better than folding ones. Less hassle, more sturdy and avoid water spillage outside the bath.
You can get one off ebay for around 40 quid.
We got our old tap changed today. The new tap is a 1/4 turn mixer tap:

The water pressure of rest of the hot taps in the house is fine.
Any help would be...
Felt like a thief while holding a torch and looking at the prv but you were spot on it is leaking indeed and also causing a new problem of making my car dirty ;-) Sorry, may be a bad joke but I dont know what to do now!!!
Yes, indeed saved you some money for not having to send a wreath and you guys saved me lots of £££ by not calling a gas engineer at 19:00!!!
I dont think the original problem (pressure dropping and that was the reason I tried increasing the pressure) is fixed as the pressure is down to 0.5...
I am still alive and the boiler is on life-support at the minute ;-)
So, here is the update:
After 2 buckets of water through the drain valve and turning the filling loop valve correctly (thanks twgas and kevplumb and your lad ;-)) the pressure came down to 1. It then kept dropping and...
